Custom Precision Silicone Tooling Service

One-Stop Silicone Tooling Process

Tooling, also known as mold, refers to the cavity space into which material is compressed or injected to get a finished part. Effective tooling is essential for producing high-quality products. It extends product life cycles and ensures the proper functionality of manufactured goods.

As the backbone of silicone molding, the quality of the tooling directly impacts the performance and reliability of the final product. As a professional manufacturer of silicone products, OTI brings extensive experience and expertise in tooling services. Our team works closely with customers to gain an in-depth understanding of their specific needs, enabling us to develop innovative and customized tooling solutions that meet and exceed expectations.

In-House Silicone Mold Design Capabilities

Our experienced and skilled design team works closely with clients to gain a thorough understanding of their requirements through in-depth communication. After conducting a comprehensive analysis of appearance, structure, function, performance, and other key factors, we develop customized tooling solutions to guarantee precision and production feasibility.

Design Service

Design Plan

Conduct a thorough analysis of customer requirements for appearance and structure based on practical application scenarios. Optimize the design in line with customer standards and product positioning to ensure both aesthetic appeal and reliable performance. Develop a solution that meets expectations while ensuring all proposals are reasonable, practical, and executable.

Function and Performance Design

Focus on functional performance by combining material properties and process requirements, aiming to ensure reliable stability in operation. Drive product performance by carefully selecting suitable silicone materials, optimizing structural designs, and fine-tuning manufacturing processes to achieve superior functional outcomes.

Tooling Structure Design

Balance cost and performance by evaluating manufacturing processes, materials, and production expenses. Develop a stable, well-engineered tooling design that aligns with product appearance and structural goals, guaranteeing that the product shape, dimensions, and surface quality consistently meet customer expectations and that the tooling offers long service life and stable performance.

Customized Tooling Solutions (Cavity Options)

The design of the tooling cavity is a critical factor in determining production efficiency and part quality, as it directly influences processing speed, manufacturing cost, and output consistency. We recognize that customers prioritize flexibility and efficiency in both product development and volume production. To better meet these needs, we offer different tooling cavity options.

Single Cavity

Single-Cavity Tooling (Prototyping)

Single-cavity tooling is typically used for prototyping, with a lead time of approximately 7–10 days. Producing one part per cycle, it offers a low-cost, quick-turnaround solution that supports rapid sampling and small-scale production. This helps customers minimize upfront investment while enabling trial runs and market testing.
Multi-Cavity Tooling

Multi-Cavity Tooling (Volume Production)

Multi-cavity tooling, as the term implies, features multiple cavities and produces multiple identical parts per molding cycle. Constructed from high-strength hardened steel, the tool is designed to withstand repeated production cycles. It delivers high throughput and significantly reduces the cost per part at large production volumes.
Family Tool

Family Tooling (Assembly Sets)

Family tooling contains multiple cavities, each designed to produce a different part in the same molding cycle. This differs from single-cavity tooling (one part per shot) and multi-cavity tooling (multiple identical parts per shot). Family molding is especially valuable for assemblies where multiple parts are always used together. By integrating these parts into one tool, we can produce complete assemblies more quickly and at a lower cost.

Silicone Molding Tooling Types

Customer projects vary by size, complexity, design, quantity, purity, precision, and many other factors. The resulting parts may feature indentations, lips or ridges, holes or notches, grooves, and other kinds of cavities within the tooling. The projects might call for a small quantity of something large or a big amount of something tiny. Our dedicated engineering team is committed to delivering innovative, tailored solutions that precisely meet your specifications.

Compression Molding Tool

Compression Tooling

A compression tooling is a matched metal die set comprising a cavity (female) and a core (male). The tooling closes around the preheated charge, applying heat and pressure to form the material into the final solid shape. Characterized by its straightforward construction and cost-effectiveness, this tooling type is particularly appropriate for materials that demand high density or elevated hardness, and is well-suited for medium- to large-scale components such as silicone gaskets, silicone seals, and silicone mats. Furthermore, it accommodates a broad range of rubber compounds, including those that are challenging to process.

LSR Injection Mold Tool One cavity with two cores

Injection Molding Tooling

Unlike compression tooling, which relies on open filling, LSR injection tooling employs a closed injection system operating under high pressure. In addition to the tooling base, core, cavity, inserts, and slides, the system integrates a runner network, valve gating, and temperature regulation. This configuration delivers high automation and precision, making it ideally suited for large-scale, high-accuracy production, such as medical parts and baby parts. Moreover, to optimize cost and throughput, we are capable of operating one cavity with two cores per single cycle, leveraging the capabilities of our LSR injection equipment.

Preguntas frecuentes

Optimal silicone product quality comes from the right synergy of product design, tooling design, molding equipment, and material selection.

Tooling lead time varies by complexity: simple designs (cavity and core only) take 7–12 days, while complex designs with sliders and ejection systems require 15–30 days.

Compared to compression mold tooling, which typically requires only a cavity and core, LSR injection molding tooling is far more complex. It consists of multiple components, including a mold base, mold core, cold runner, cold nozzle, heating tubing, ejector plate, return pins, and other auxiliary parts.

Yes, we offer prototype LSR injection tooling. A standard mold base can be used for fast, cost-effective production. For less precise parts, we can also use irregular compression molding with liquid silicone material.

We'll supply a DFM report for your approval based on the final drawing, covering surface finish, parting line, cavity layout, number of cavities, draft, and gating. We can also make a prototype tool to verify feasibility if needed.

Yes,we could produce the part by using your existing tooling .Please send us the tooling drawing and tool photos before quoting.
